Types of Cookies and How We Use Them

Avento uses essential cookies that are required for core functionality including authentication tokens to keep you logged in across sessions, session management to maintain your active state, security tokens to prevent unauthorized access, and CSRF protection for secure form submissions. Functional cookies remember your preferences such as user interface theme, language selection, notification settings, chat scroll positions, draft messages, sidebar state, selected workspace, and file upload progress. Performance cookies help us improve the app by tracking usage patterns, feature adoption rates, error reports, crash diagnostics, page load times, responsiveness metrics, and user navigation flows. The desktop app stores data in an encrypted local database and uses your operating system's keychain for sensitive credentials, while caching images, files, and chat history for faster offline access.

  • Essential cookies enable login, security, and basic app functionality and cannot be disabled without breaking core features
  • Functional cookies enhance your experience by remembering settings, preferences, and interface customization across sessions
  • Performance cookies collect anonymous analytics to identify bugs, measure feature usage, and optimize app performance
  • Desktop app uses encrypted local storage with OS keychain security for credentials and offline caching for speed

Managing Cookies and Your Choices

In the desktop app, you can clear cached data through Settings > Clear Cache, logout to remove session data and authentication tokens, or uninstall the app to delete all local stored information including preferences and cached files. For the web version, you can clear cookies through your browser settings, use private or incognito mode to prevent cookie storage, disable cookies entirely (though this may break functionality), or use browser extensions to selectively manage cookies. Third-party services like Pusher for real-time messaging, Mux for video streaming, and DigitalOcean for file hosting may set their own cookies which we don't control. Data stored locally on your device includes encrypted login tokens, user preferences, cached images and files, message history, draft messages, and app state, with session cookies lasting until logout and persistent cookies remaining until manually cleared or after automatic cleanup at thirty days.

  • Desktop app data can be cleared via settings, logout, or complete uninstallation to remove all traces of stored information
  • Browser cookie controls allow you to manage web version cookies, use private browsing, or employ extensions for granular control
  • Third-party cookies from services like Pusher, Mux, and DigitalOcean are governed by their respective privacy policies
  • Local storage persistence includes session data until logout and cached data with automatic cleanup after thirty days of inactivity
